It’s experimental, but in Vancouver certain addicts are offered the opioid hydromorphone via a vending machine.

The vending machine began dispensing in January and you can pick up your medication four times a day.

The Providence Cross Town Clinic enrolls fewer than 200 patients, however—and in order to participate, they must use the injectable drugs on the premises, which requires that they visit more than once a day at specific, assigned times.
